Catherine Lippitt, BMus, MMus, LMus began her musical training in Calgary, Alberta,singing with the Calgary Youth Choir (now the Calgary Children’s Choir) and the Mount Royal Youth Choir. Other Choral experience includes Ad Libitum Vocal Ensemble (Calgary), the Alberta, Manitoba and National Youth Honor Choirs, as well as the Festival Ensemble (2001 & 2002) for the European Music Festival Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. Catherine is a current member of the Canadian Chamber Choir, a 17 voice, a cappella choir made up of singers from across Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Manitoba and a Masters of Music from the University of Western Ontario, both in Vocal Performance. She also holds a Licentiate Diploma from the Western Board of Music. In addition to choral music, Catherine also enjoys singing Opera and Oratorio and in Recital.

Lauren Woods is a coloratura soprano from Calgary, Alberta. She completed a diploma in music performance at Mount Royal College, where she studied with Dawn Johnson. She then completed a degree in Opera at the University of British Columbia under Nancy Hermiston. At a young age she was enrolled in the Kodàly Musicianship Program, and sang in the Cantaré Children’s choir with Catherine Glaser-Climie. Lauren was also involved in the MRC Academy, where she performed works such as Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the MRC Youth Orchestra. In 2008, Lauren played the role of Countess Blavinskeya in the world premiere of The Dream Healer with the UBC opera ensemble and she was the second spirit in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Opera Nuova. At Nuova she was fortunate to work with Stuart Hamilton, Michael McMahon, Nico Castel, Judith Forst, John Fanning, and many other sought out Professionals. In 2009, Lauren played Nanetta in Verdi’s Falstaff as well as Despina in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte in the Czech republic, Ontario and Vancouver with the UBC opera ensemble. Last year, Lauren sang in the Calgary Opera Chorus for their production of Manon. In addition to her vocal coaching duties with Cantaré, Lauren teaches piano and voice at Time Music Studios. Lauren joined our Cantaré faculty in 2009.
Connie Weryshko, BEd, DipFA (Kodaly) provides an exceptional foundation of teaching experience as workshop clinician for our choirs. She is co-founder of Cantate Music School which offered the Kodàly Music Explorers Programme for young children for twelve years. Following many highly successful years as an elementary classroom teacher with the Calgary Board of Education, Connie taught in the Early Childhood Kodàly Musicianship Program at Mount Royal College Conservatory for 8 years.
As a music director for Foothills Lutheran Church, she developed music programs and activities for children and still serves as organist and choir accompanist. She has also taught private piano and theory lessons.
Connie has been part of our Cantaré faculty since the inception of our choir.
